We may not currently understand the reasons why there isn’t much revealed about our Mother, but we do know that she and our Father both worked together preparing this plan.
I love learning about how unified Heavenly Father and the Savior are. I can only assume that our Heavenly Parents enjoy that same unity as eternal companions. We know that our Father is perfect, loving, kind, just, merciful, patient, forgiving and charitable.

Elder Bruce R McConkie said, “True believers worship that Holy Being who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of pure water. (Rev 14:7) He is the father of our spirits with whom we dwelt before the foundations of the earth were laid. He is our father in heaven, who ordained and established a plan of salvation by which his spirit children might advance and progress and become like him.
He is a holy man, a personage of tabernacle, having a body of flesh and bones; and he created mortal man in his own image, “male and female created he them” (Gen 1:27) He is a glorified and exalted being in whom all fullness and perfection dwell, who knows all things and has all power, all might, and all dominion. Equal Companion
If our Heavenly Father possesses those qualities, then our Mother in Heaven stands equal with Him. I believed that our Savior, Jesus Christ learned how to love and have compassion for others from the women who loved Him. Mary was a chosen vessel to bring him to the earth and teach him righteousness. Before He came, He was also a Son of Heavenly Mother. Not only did our Heavenly Parents give Him power over death, but I am certain She sent with Him many of her unique traits that would assist Him in his mission in mortality. We know that men and women have different strengths. Women are nurturers at heart, willing to give service, ready to comfort the broken-hearted, to bind up wounds and wipe away the tears, to walk a dark road with another. We see those beautiful attributes throughout Christ’s ministry upon the earth.

When He said “If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also” (John 14:7), I believe we could also interpret it as “If ye had known me, ye should have known my Mother also.” Her feminine gifts were used in all the ways He loved others; His actions, through His hands, by His words.
To be able to love with a perfect love is a motherly love. It is unconditional. It is eternal. Women possess the same traits as our Heavenly Mother, which is what gives them the special ability and gifts that allow them to nurture their families.
In the topics section of lds.org, under “Mother in Heaven”, it says, “Latter-day Saints are taught to pray to Heavenly Father, but as President Gordon B. Hinckley said, “The fact that we do not pray to our Mother in Heaven in no way belittles or denigrates her.” Indeed, as Elder Rudger Clawson wrote, “We honor woman when we acknowledge Godhood in her eternal Prototype.”
